I have used a Bach 7 for over 15 years (a Bach 18 before that). The Bach 7 is a large, bowl shaped mouthpiece. It is also fairly deep. The rim is (to me) medium wide and slightly rounded. This mouthpiece works very well with some tubas, producing a large dark sound with center. I find control to be excellent in all dynamic ranges. I think that most would consider this mouthpiece at its best in a larger group (I use it for all of my contrabass tuba work).
However, I have found that on some tubas (and with some very good tubists) the Bach 7 does not center the sound (as I like it) and reduces accuracy. Control in the softer dynamics can also be an issue. If you are interested in a bowl shaped mouthpiece, you may want to look at the Bach 18 (a standard all purpose mouthpiece) or the Bach 12 (between the Bach 18 and the Bach 7).

good luck,
