I hope people pay attention to the above post, because it's really important. Any competent (!) repair person can use a reamer to put the proper taper in a leadpipe, and it's a real shame that tubas are coming out of the factory with this not done.
If you think about what is happening with the airstream with a mouthpiece that wobbles in the lead pipe....you can see that it could cause problems. Similar problems can occur with a properly-tapered leadpipe being matched with a differently-tapered mouthpiece shank. Most American instruments use a Morse 0 (zero) taper; European instruments tend to have a different taper.
