Look, DMAs are intended as the last piece of the puzzle in getting into college interviews, along with the performance training.
Aside from people who are in demand freelancers or left an orchestra to go into teaching, I think I'm safe in observing that most college level teachers in the US have DMAs or at least MMs from one of these institutions, plus a couple others I didn't list.
The seal on the piece of paper doesn't matter, but what people recognize it represents does matter, period.
