I talked with the UMI research and development guys this past Fall and I asked them if a pro euphonium was in the works. They said yes and no. It sounds like it's going to be a long time until something comes into fruition (5 to 6 years). Even then, it sounds like it'll be a student model instrument. The main reason for this is twofold: 1) Besson, Willson, Yamaha, etc. already have pro-line models and thus tough competition in a small market. 2) R & D is expensive and the return on producing a new instrument for a small market is not economically sound.
