I am very partial to the Solti/CSO recording, partly because it is the first classical LP I ever purchased. Plus, the brass playing is exceptional. IMHO, nobody plays Mahler like the CSO.
I am also very fond of the Mehta/NYP recording. The first movement is like a trumpet concerto for Phil Smith. Warren sounds pretty good, too!
I haven't heard them all, but Sinopoli did some really nice Mahler recordings with the LPO (or the Philharmonia, I get them confused).
