Thanks so much for your fine post.
Your account of the 1951 recording really adds to the account in Song and Wind, which gives the impression, to this reader at least, that the entire part was performed on the BBb side of the instrument. Also, your account of his "pass" on the 1957 Bydlo is new information to me.
If Brian is away, I hope someone calls his attention to your post, as I (and certainly others) would love to hear what more he knows about these events.
