Yamaha F's are well made and high quality instruments. I owned a YFB-822 for four years and it served me very well. A lot of pros are using Yamaha F's with much success. I only sold mine because I wanted to go for a slightly different F-tuba sound for orchestral playing. There are many people who have had success using the 822 for orchestral playing. I just wanted to go for a different sound. I haven't played the 621 much, but I know that it is a good horn as well. It plays very easily and produces a nice tone. It is a tremendously agile horn, one that I think would be perfect for soloing, and also good for quintets.
If you're thinking about the Yamaha F, you also might consider the Gronitz F tuba. It is kind of in-between the size of the 822 and the 621. I think it might be a bit more affordable as well. Tony Clements owned the 822 for a long time and replaced it with the Gronitz F.
my 2 cents...
