I think it's a pretty nice all round horn [the 621]. I have owned one for about five years, and haven't had problems with it (I do agree, however, about the G at the top of the staff. Fun with that note). I do have a little, perhaps impracticle suggestion, though: I played for a month on the 622 prototype (I think that's what it's called) and for about three months on Roger Bobo's tuba, and it is definately worth some serious consideration. I don't know how easy it would be to find in North America, but the two really nice things it provides are the larger bell and the superior 5th valve setup.
For many reasons (the price being the least of these) I would not recommend choosing a Yamaha for orchestral f playing. If you are looking for a little bit of everything, though, it's a great little horn.
