Well, you don't literally shoot back a week, but you get what I am saying. If you start pulling the "resting, don't play for a day"s too much, the people who are getting 4 hours a day will shoot right past you.
Doc Severson has a quote (I don't recall it word for word) which I found to be very effective: "If I don't practise for a day, I notice it. If I don't practise for 2 days, my fellow musicians notice it. If I don't practise for 3 days, the audience notices it."
