I heard a funny story about Phil just today. Apparently he was the last one to get seated onstage at the beginning of a NYPO concert, so the audience had quieted down and was paying close attention. Upon sitting down, the chair broke under him. The audience burst into an uproar. I would not pass this on if it did not come from a very reliable horn player. Anyone know the exact date this occurred?
