I'll second that opinion. I have been playing a 1970 183-4U for about two years and really like it. I wrote to Mirafone about the 183-5U and was told it was out of production. Apparently the 5th valve is/was in the lead pipe just before the first valve, just like the 5RV Mira's in current production. The 183's are listed as having a bore of 18mm or .700". I'd bet you could get a valve from Mirafone and have a competent repair person mount it with your choice of tuning slides and linkage. Of course, you would have to find a 183-4U, first, and I'm not selling mine! Go find your own!
