Sometimes some of the "old people" are or were some really good players who now play with maturity and don't show off. As a "young'n" to a degree, I am still sometime guilty of a little showboating. However, I play with a gentleman who is a very good player and probably one of the best all around tuba players I've ever had the priviledge of meeting. And the other tuba player is a couple of years younger than I and also a good player. I think the bravado wears off of most of these folks after a while. It is just tough when it is all you hear and it is being done poorly.
