A friend of mine plays in the orchestra in Basil Switzerland. The way the his orchestra is set up, I assume like most european orchestras, the musicians perform in multiple venues, from symphony to opera to ballet to chamber music. One night he is playing a concert of Strauss tone poems and the next a Wagner opera. Now that's a good gig!
