Theo. Charlier Etude no. 2? If he's a trumpet player, he'll know it, and appreciate your effort to play some nice music for him. It's got nice melodic lines, and will also display good fingers and articulation. The only problem is that the book costs $50 or more new. Find a trumpet playing colleague that will loan it to you.
