Yeah, fine show! ....and a seriously BIG sound for the last two movements. Couple Dave & Tony with Terry Mizesko on bass-bone and the amazing John Pederson with his bassoon army (four deep to my eye).....I'd say the winds had the low notes covered pretty well.
I didn't realize that the Wilsons were that big, until I saw Tony dwarfed behind the big CC. I'm used to seeing him perform with the Kurath F.
Dave had used a large F tuba last month for a standing performance of Toru Takemitsu's antiphonal "Day Signals" and "Night Signals"......I wondered if it was a Wilson. This piece is one of my favorites so far this season. Just beautiful!!
