If you are planning on letting this horn last through college, you might want to consider a CC tuba. I know when I was in high school, that was the best decision I could have made then. Just know that just because the horn he gets now is adequate does not mean that in 5 or 6 years (deoending on how old he is) he won't grow out of it. Just my two cents......oh yeah go with the silver
