Yes it is switchable between the 2 keys (BBb and EEE). It is a double tuba. It operates just like a double french horn. Each valve has 2 sets of slides. If he is playing on the BBb side of the horn one set of slides is activated, if on the EEE side a different set of slides is activated. Additionally each note has it's own valve, so that every note is perfectly in tune.
