I teach a ton of students, and I always get a little nervous when I get a new student. Until they are around a while, I don't feel comfortable...and this is human nature. Some people are a little shy. I have confidence that I can help them, but because they are new people in my world, it makes me nervous until I get a feel for them. I am not a great teacher, but I do know that a good starting point is to encourage the student to love music and their instrument, then work on getting them to practice consistently.
