Yes, they are that good. At least I think so. I use three of the different Laskey models (30H, 30F, and 30C) on various instruments I own. I'd say you should at least try one out and see if it fits you. I find that these mouthpieces produce a little something extra in the sound, something I can't really describe in words so I'll just call it "interesting". Also, they seem to produce very good intonation, much better than what I get with other mouthpieces. I can't really explain why that is, maybe I'm just lucky and have three horns that are really good matches for the three Laskey mouthpieces I use. The mouthpiece you want to try instead of a Conn 7B would be the Laskey 30F. That's what I use on my Eb tuba. You could also go to Laskey's website and check the statistics of his mouthpieces out for yourself and see if other models he makes aren't a better fit for you. Good luck!
