I have a St Pete I bought directly from Die Tuba in 1998. Can't do that now, TE has exclusive US rights. Mine was built in 1994 and the Russian valves were replace by German. The rotors are not perfectly machined and I have had some work done and more that will be done to cure the occasional problem of the bearings turning and causing the rotor to hang. I had the spatulas modified to fit my rather small hand. I find the horn plays well, it has good intonation and solid bottom. The nickle is thin and showing some wear, but then I play alot. I use a hard case, so dents are not much problem, but obviously, thin metal will dent easier than heavier metal. I try to be careful, but I'm not overly concerned about a small ding. I don't see the St Pete as a kid's instrument, it isn't going to take the punishment, but for an adult who will take proper care of it, I think it's a reasonable choice.
