I thought the same of the Miraphone. If I wanted an F tuba to be my one tuba for nearly all occasions, it would have been better suited, I think (though it is also unobtainable, and remember I had my checkbook in my pocket).
But I wanted another F tuba with a particular characteristic sound, that would project better than the 621. I had specific objectives in mind, and the B&S met those objectives. There was a particular character to the sound that made it stand out, and I wanted this tuba to stand out. Plus, it was available for sale, and I could afford it.
