Consistent quality teaching requires a certain set of skills and attributes:
1- thorough knowledge of a disciple and understanding and quick analysis of execution/cognitive pitfalls
2- the ability to communicate, relate, and empathize
3- enthusiasm for teaching for its own sake beyond its often meager rewards

I don't believe that any pencil-headed geek university-based "Education" courses can get folks very far down the road of #1 and #2 above, and certainly not #3.
Personally, I have very little of #3...' often reminds me of driving a truck with a clogged fuel filter, deflated tires, broken tie rods, a painted-over windshield, and bad brakes.
