Put your favorite recordings on full blast and play along with them. Do this for hours at a time when nobody else is home. If you get stuck on something then stop the playback and work on it. Learn the melody, the lyrics, the chords, and the scales that fit the chords. But if you don't get stuck then just have fun with the music. When you hear a lick that you like, imitate it. But most of the time just play the melody with small embellishments. When you play something that doesn't please you then remember to try something different the next time it comes around.
