The CEB 641 is not in the same class as very many other Eb tubas. It has the same quirky characteristic (or similar) to the low BBb (4th valve) as the smaller rotary F tubas tend to have with their low C. As you'd assume, it also provides a close approximation for the "lovely" rotary F sound, but in an Eb. I would consider this to be a specialty instrument -- good for soloing in and above the staff, but weak with more than a couple of ledger lines below the staff.

If you play Eb, and would like to have the sound of a 3/4 rotary F, this is the horn for you. If you want a good quintet horn, I'd suggest a different Eb.
