I've been playing on a Conn Helleburg almost since I started playing tuba back in high school. I personally love the sound the Helleburg style mouthpiece gives me. I've tried a few of the bowl-shaped mouthpieces but I was never that comfortable with them. Call me crazy but I'm most comfortable with the flat rim with the sharp bit. I feel like I have more control over the horn. I also like the low resistance of the mouthpiece. It makes it easier for me to play relaxed but that's a personal preference. But, like I said before, the main reason I like it is because of the sound it gives me. It makes it easier for me to match the sound that's in my head. I agree with what GC said below, find the mouthpiece that works for you. Good luck...
