How can they extend the deadline date?

How can they extend the ITEC deadline a day before they should have recieved the recordings? This to me seems unfair since some people have an extra 3 weeks to work on the material. Could I now send a new improved recording by that date? How do we know if this is even a legitimate post since this new date isn't even on the website! If this is true then WTF?
