I agree somewhat when it comes to actually purchasing a specialty tuba or getting significant repairs done. But I'll bet most music stores make make more on accessories and supplies than they do on instrument sales. I suspect margins on new instruments are very low these days, since the advent of mail-order houses like WWBW. Besides, if you get a guy buying his accessories and supplies from you, you're more likely to sell him an instrument.
