You know, if I had sufficient excess tubing after the valve cluser, I'd be sore tempted to see if I could insert a 5th ascending valve. Perfectly in-tune "non mushy" B with a good sound and maybe a good low E (played 145).
Of course, this wouldn't help you with low C, but how many times do you have to play that?
