I come to this as a long time trumpet/cornet player picking up tuba. Arban's is, IMHO, simply a GREAT method book. I sprang for the tuba edition since I needed a bit of practice in reading bass cleff and because of my two cornet Arban's one had pages falling out and I keep the other at work. They are both 350 plus page books essentially bound as giant paperbacks. The tuba Arban offers no particular improvement in material over thw cornet versions (same excellent drills transposed to a different clef; a pretty elementary change)- but boy is it ever nice to have a plastic spine with pages that don't tear out and lie flat when the thing is on the stand. That alone is a reason to spring for it. Heck; I'm using the tuba one for the trumpet now.
