At one point, Berlioz scored the Sym Phant. for one ophecleide and one serpent. I believe he also scored it for two ophecleides, one pitched in C and one in Bb (to cover each others' bad notes).
If you are still interested, contact Steve Wick, who teaches ophecleide at the Royal Academy of Music in London; he's playing oph. on the Roger Norrington/London Classical Players period instrument recording of Sym Phant.
