It is hard to compare these two instruments because they are so different. The Rudy Meinl is a GREAT all around tuba. Solo, small ensemble and concert band. If you can only afford to own one tuba, this is a great choice. The Yamaha 621 has a much more focused sound. Does not project enouph for a large ensemble, however this horn performs beautifully as intended; a great solo tuba. You can easily make the Rudolf meinl sound and project like a 4/4. Regards, Stacey
