Not your average Arnold Jacobs discussion...

Fill me in on Fred Geib:

I know Fred Geib played in the Metro Opera Orchestra in New York in the 30's and 40's
(is that correct?). I also believe that Fred Geib played with the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra in the 30's and 40's. The reason that I ask is because I found a book the other day on the Encore Music site that has various exercises for tuba...but they are all in Fred Geib's original handwriting. What else can you tell me about him...is he still alive...did he ever make his own horns or mouthpieces?

...Everett Gilmore...?

Who can fill me in on Everett Gilmore...(is it Gilmore or Gillmore?)
He played many years with the Dallas Symphony and I think he retired in 1994 (??)
I believe that Matt Good replaced him. I got a chance to meet Everett Gilmore, but I felt embarassed because I didn't know a lot about him and his playing history at the time (still don't).

Thanks,

Tom
