Alec Wilder - Suite for Horn, Tuba, and Piano ...a classic. Written for John Barrow and Harvey Phillips. Five movements. Middle movement is written in a light jazz style. Last movement is fugal, and may be the weakest movement of the five. If you don't like the fifth movement, since it is a "suite" and not a "sonata" you are allowed to rearrange the order of the other movements, or to even omit the fifth movement. The other four movements are wonderful, IMO.
(Arthur?) Frackenpohl also wrote a multi-movement work for tuba and horn [no piano] (or baritone - both the horn and baritone parts are included). This piece is also QUITE good. The first movement starts out with a peppy Latin-sounding motif in Bb. The last movement is very listenable, and is a counting and technical challenge for many, as is the Wilder work.
