Heck. Uhh...are you trying to hold it up in the air, like a baritone? or uhh...are you setting it actually down on the chair itself (like the way that you would set your big tuba) and hunkering down to meet the mouthpiece?

I just have a normal Sears-and-Roebuck (B&S) F, and I set it on my thighs to make sure that everything lines up without having to "do" anything. (That's why I always make jokes about Monette mouthpieces making my legs go to sleep... no offense, Bostonians.)

I REALLY sympathize, though. I started playing around with one of those tuba playing stand/cradle things on a gig (playing a CC), and screwed up my neck and shoulders.
