Some weeks ago, I was searching the web and found a site that listed insrument makers, locations, and I believe serial # reference and dating. Now, I can't find it.
I have a turn of the century "BIG" cervany BBb #21416 (20 inch bell model).
I would like to get a date on this tuba. Any ideas?
A big emblem on the bell says A KONIGGATZ made in BOHEMIA, V.F. CERVENY & FILS. SOLE AGENT FOR U.S. and CANADA GEORGI & VITAK CHICAGO ILL. It looks very much like the horn pictured with Jacobs (Legacy of a Master, page 62) The model I have looks a little larger. I bought this horn in Pesacola at a antique store. The dealer said it came from a Chicago Estate sale. If horns could talk!
