I too, have to back Jay and John's recommendation of the VMI 103 (or 2103 - same thing). Considering that the St. Pete and the VMI are right at the same price, the VMI is a FAR superior instrument in terms of craftsmanship, playability (GREAT tuning) and longevity. Personally, I feel the VMI 3301 BBb (4 pistons) is THE best BBb tuba on the market today, but it is $1000 more than the VMI 103 (an extra $25,000) It sounds like you are outfitting both high school and junior highs. I would recommend VMI 2103s for the junior highs and 3301s for the high school. Depending on the combination of instruments needed the cost could come out to equal if you bought all Cerveny.

There was someone who mentioned the Weril tubas - I tried these horns at the MidWest Clinic and was VERY displeased with the instrument - even at $2200 or whatever price
