I've been reading through the archives about giving your horn a bath. Most of the comments seem to focus on piston horns, and the process seems pretty straight forward.
However, I am not comfortable with washing out a 4 valve rotary tuba. I have no intentions of taking the valves apart, but I would be concerned with dislodging some green sludge that may get stuck in or around the valves.

Any thoughts/recommendations?

Also, any recommedations how the best way to keep the laquer finish looking it's best? Is a clear laquer spray a practical way to re-cover the worn spots on an older horn?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.
