I don't know about the design differences, but I know that the 2000 plays better than the 2155, but you have to approach your airsrteam a little differently. You can blow hard like you can on some of the Meinls (2155, 2165), you have to play it with a more relaxed feel and the instrument does all the work for you. But they are real expensive (not Nirshel expensive but I think they are in the 12,000 range {I could be wrong}).
