The Slatkin/SLSO recording of the Prokofiev 5th Symphony released on RCA was definetly Gene Pokorny, and was his first recording with the orchestra. It is my favorite recording of the piece as well. I joined the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in March, 1991. We have done many performances of Prokofiev 5th here and on tour, and it has been considered to be a "house specialty". There are at least a couple of broadcasts of this piece on which I am playing, one with James De Priest conducting and one with Leonard Slatkin. All of the NPR broadcasts in current circulation are from a pool of performances taken from concerts performed over the last 4 to 5 years, just in case anyone is interested.
