I've been playing the tuba for about a year and a half, but I didn't play for a while and only recently started playing again. I'm not sure if it was like this before, but now I notice that I seem to be using quite a bit of mouthpiece pressure. I think it might be because of two reasons. Sometimes air leaks between my mouth and mouthpiece, and also I seems to be hard to hit the notes right on and just play well without quite a bit of pressure. I tried not using much pressure at all, and it made playing somewhat hard, especially playing somewhat loud in the middle and high registers. I was just wondering if somebody had any words of wisdom to help with this.
