I think doubling is one of the unspoken tricks of the tuba trade. Playing trombone/euph
can point out problems or possible improvments in your tuba playing which you might not
find out about otherwise. Just make sure that you practice tuba, especially the high range, more than your double instrument, or your high range on tuba may suffer.
Also keep in mind that tuba, trombone & euphonium are very different beasts, so don't be discouraged when you find they don't blow like a tuba or sound like a tuba.
