I once took some advice from a trumpet professor about how my embouchure should look and work. I tried to do as this teacher told me but I missinterpreted what he said. So I ended up playing really poorly for a semester until I became fed up with what I was attempting to do and went back to what I was doing. My advice is that if it is not broke, don't fix it.
