Brian has met the York in person and I haven't, but if Donatelli's big horn in that picture isn't the York, then why have we never heard anything about *that* horn?

The 1920's Besson that belongs to my wife's uncle was originally a satin silver finish, too, and it's now mostly shiny, without too much loss of plating, either. So the satin-ness of Donatelli's horn compared to the York's present shine doesn't persuade me.

I think Joe's theory about why they added the fifth valve (as a BBb change valve) makes a huge amount of sense--I'd never even thought of it.
