try the meinl weston 2145 and the new rudy meinl piston valve 4/4 cc. these horns are great for the money. i just bought a mw2145 and love it. it fits every use i need so far as a college student. i plan on adding a big orchestral horn to my list down the road but this horn is a great overall instrument with good low and high registers and no stuffiness. i can still lay it down in large ensembles and play very flexible solos and quintet music. the rudy is very freeblowing with a great sound but i don't think the low register is as good as the meinl weston.
