Having owned and played BOTH of these on the stage, I would say that they do NOT compare, they are apples and oranges. The Rudy is a large German-Style tuba with the sound associated with the German tuba sound. The Yamaha is an American-style of tuba, with a larger broader sound, but a solid, snappy low register.
