I would definitely recommend trying the trial/demo versions of Finale, Sibelius and also Lime. For your money I think Lime is the best deal. It only costs $65 and the trial version is fully functional (shareware not crippleware). It may not be quite as user friendly as Sibelius or Finale, but the price is a lot more friendly. You should also check out SharpEye for scanning music. It works with Lime and MusicEase or any program that reads NIFF files. SharpEye ($50) is also cheaper than MidiScan($149) or SmartScore($399) and has a fully functional demo. I've found it's very accurate on single voice parts and easy to use.
