I have a page from an old York catalog showing the 4th valve as an optional piece of equipment on the tuba. The horn, 3 valves and brass finsh was $100; silver finish was $120 and 4th valve was $15 more. The ad came form the "Ditson Guide Book." It was on line at http:\\web.calstate.edu/faculty/jswain/brass/yorkditson.htm according to the notation on the top.
