Fuel for the lips to vibrate is air, what else can cause them to vibrate, muscles? It is the lip's vibration that is acoustically changed by the instrument for pitch, tambre and all that good stuff to produce sound but it starts as a vibration of the lips.

Just a few other things on this thread. Someone commented they cannot feel air in the body - that is correct. In the body there is no feeling of air, only air pressure.

The observation that you do not neccesarily need a full breath to play is correct, even Mr Jacobs said that.

It seems there are a lot of people out there who learned well from Mr Jacobs! If you are coming to Ft Myer, come on over and say hello!
