You should look into the VMI/F. Schimdt 2301 tuba (F. Schmidt is a VMI that is sold by Brook Mays Music of Dallas, TX). At $3000, they sell for slightly more than your range but if you can come up with the extra bucks, they are worth it. They are well made, sound good, play easily and in tune. What more could you ask for?
