I know the york comes up often, but I haven't seen info about the Yamaha copies of the YORK. So here goes nothing. As most of you
know there are two yorks, one is outstanding, one is okay. Well the Nirschl tuba is a copy of the okay york. The Hirsbrunner
yorkbrunner is a copy of the okay york. But Yamaha has made a copy of the GOOD YORK!!! Jim Self has one and it is suppose to be
every bit as good. From what I understand there are six Yamaha yorks that were made, and the price is close to 20,000 big ones.
However Yamaha is considering not making more due to cost. I personally believe if there was enough demand for this horn
production cost would go down. But the real issue is that there are good copies of a great horn and they are available if you have the
Money. I know Gene Pokorny has played these copies, and he feels they are just as good, and in much better condition that the
original GOOD HORN! I think this is kinda cool, and I hope you are all dreaming about Yamaha making more.
